A moment to pause
A busy conference centre might seem an unlikely place to find stillness.
Yet during the National Women’s Show in Ottawa on October 18, Tanya Callender of Moon Goddess Alchemical Hypnosis invited women to do exactly that.
Her talk, Permission To Remember Yourself, offered a gentle invitation: allow yourself to experience the moment, receive care, and loosen the pressure to always anticipate everyone else’s needs.
Feet grounded. A breath. A little space.
Tanya made that invitation practical.
Feet flat on the ground. Fingers noticing the texture of a reflection card. A breath. A moment of silence. These were small actions taken that gave guests something to experience, right there in their seats.
Bright, confident, and sincere, Tanya held the room’s attention despite the noise and movement beyond it.
Preserving the presence
My role was to capture both her message and how she delivered it.
Three camera angles followed the presentation, while microphones captured her voice and made room for audience responses. The aim was to preserve the pauses, expressions, and connection that gave her words their meaning.
A message worth returning to
For roughly 25 minutes, Tanya invited women to make space for themselves.
It was a pleasure to document that invitation and create photographs and a recording she can share beyond the room.
