On 17 January 2026, Richelieu-Vanier Community Centre in Ottawa filled with joy, rhythm, and gratitude as Eric Ogbegie marked his 50th birthday surrounded by what felt like 300 of his closest family, friends, church members, and community.
The evening began with not one, but two unforgettable entrances. Eric danced his way into the reception hall, followed closely by his wife, children, and loved ones, met with cheers, music, and celebratory showers of money from guests who moved and danced alongside them. Each entrance was honoured with heartfelt speeches from family and friends — words that spoke to his character, faith, and impact on those around him.
Before the feast began, the room paused for a moment of worship and praise, a meaningful reflection of Eric’s faith and gratitude. The prayer gave way to a beautifully presented buffet by Yàkóoyó Abula Joint, whose rich, flavourful dishes kept guests returning for more. Throughout the night, DJ TT Jedi set the tone, blending ambience and energy to keep the celebration alive.
Documenting the milestone, Paul Green Photography provided full event photography and video coverage — capturing candid moments, family portraits, speeches, dance-floor energy, and the emotional highlights of the evening. The goal was simple: to preserve not just how the night looked, but how it felt.
Eric’s 50th birthday was more than a party — it was a gathering of legacy, love, and community.
