Milestone birthdays deserve more than hurried iPhone photos and shaky videos. When families gather to celebrate someone they love, the biggest regret I hear later is, “I wish we had captured more of it properly.”
That’s why celebrating and documenting Margaret Vandy’s 50th birthday was both an honour and a responsibility — to preserve the spirit, the people, and the emotions of the night with care.
The Celebration
Margaret’s 50th was filled with elegance, warmth, and golden tones. Guests arrived dressed beautifully, conversation flowed, and the excitement of the evening never dipped. As her lead photographer and videographer, I moved through the room capturing both the polished portraits and the genuine, unscripted moments that defined the night.
Photography Services Provided
- Event Portraits: Family, friends, loved ones — individually and in groups.
- Candid Storytelling: Quiet laughter, warm embraces, and natural interactions that reflected the depth of Margaret’s relationships.
- Detail Shots: The décor, her shimmering gold dress, floral accents, table settings, and the cake — each photographed to help tell the full story of her celebration.
Videography Services
For the video production, I brought in Hanson (Hanson Lens Crafted) as the second videographer — a decision that elevated the final film.
What We Covered
- Main Narrative: Speeches, dancing, key entrances, and emotional moments.
- Second-Angle Footage: Hanson captured guest reactions, atmosphere shots, and movement across the room while I focused on major events.
- B-Roll for Cinematic Editing: Décor, styling, ambient movement, and transitional shots that shaped the highlight reel.
- Final Deliverables:
- A cinematic 3–4 minute highlight video
- Full event video coverage 7-10 minute video
- Select vertical clips for social sharing
- Full event photography
The dual-videographer approach ensured nothing was missed and gave the final edit depth, dimension, and emotion.
Why This Event Mattered
Margaret’s reaction to her final video reminded me why I love this work. She told me the footage helped her “see the night from everyone’s eyes.”
When milestone moments are documented intentionally, they become heirlooms — something families can revisit and pass down.
